What is ARAD?
Arthritis is a term that encompasses over 100 conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system resulting in pain, impaired physical function, decline in quality of life and significant economic and healthcare costs. As arthritis affects millions of Australians of all ages, the Australian government has listed arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions as a National Health Priority Area since 2002.
With the widespread burden of arthritis in the Australian community, and a lack of treatment options available, the Australian Rheumatology Association Database (ARAD) was established in 2002 to monitor treatment responses, quality of life and health status.
